During 2011, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (Initiative) in Kosovo organized a number of activities which have had an efficient impact in addressing important issues and problems in Kosovo society. Meanwhile, the Initiative has also raised its capacities by recruiting young people in order to refresh and further extend the organizations function.

During this year, the Initiative in Kosovo has consolidated its leading structure. At the meeting of the Assembly of the Initiative in Kosovo, on the 3rd of August 2011, the statute and work strategy were approved, the Governing Board was constituted and the Executive Director of the organization was elected.

This report will reflect a summary of activities conducted by the Initiative during 2011, which were structured into these programmes:

- Human Rights Programme
- Regional Cooperation and Dealing with the Past Programme
- Youth Programme: Education and Activism
- Small Grants Programme

Hundreds of participants from different backgrounds went through the implemented programmes during this year. Over 200 activists were engaged in campaigns and different actions of the activists’ network, Nisma Ime (My Initiative). This included: around 90 young Albanians and Serbs participating in the visiting program within Kosovo; 15 young people travelled for their first time to European Union states; 21 students attended and completed the Young Leaders School; around 50 young people of different backgrounds from Kosovo and Serbia visited for their first time each other’s countries; around 150 young people attended the regional conference “LinKS”; around 100 young people went through the debate program of Karl Poper format; 2 students from Kosovo completed an internship with the International Criminal Tribunal for ex-Yugoslavia in Hague; hundreds of young people engaged in different projects which were supported by the Initiative through its small grants program.

The year 2011 was successfully concluded with the Human Rights Campaign and publication of the Report on the implementation of the Anti-Discrimination Law.
