Youth and Education Program aims to educate and strengthen the capacities of young people engaged in process of dealing with the past and human rights, and to actively involve young people in social and political life.

 

The Young Leaders School is part of YIHR Kosovo’s Education Program which intends to develop the critical thinking capacities of young generation with regard to social, political and cultural concepts; provide the students with a map of knowledge on democratic politics; and develop the practical skills of students required for the implementation of a progressive agenda in professional life or other social activities.

The school aims at empowering young people through education on: the fields of human rights and diversity rule of law and transitional justice, participatory democracy; stereotypes, prejudices and media influence, nationalism and identity, and finally European values and European integration.

 

Travel to Europe is a project which gives the opportunity to the most successful students of Kosovo Universities to travel through European countries at their own choice for a month.

Young people from Kosovo see Europe as a place out of their reach due to the strict visa regime of the Schengen zone and other countries in the region that have recently joined the EU. This type of experience gives students a chance to closely see and feel Western countries. It helps them strengthen their determination towards promoting the idea of European integration and at the same time serves as a supporting mechanism and reward for their academic achievements.
 

Nisma Ime (My Initiative) is a network of young people all over Kosovo who advocate respect for human rights, facing the past and the inclusion of the young in public and political life. This network was formed in 2007 through the Get Out to Vote campaign, organized by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights.

Since that time, thousands of young people from the whole Kosovo have contributed to Nisma Ime, through participating in various street actions and Stand up for your Rights Campaign. The activists of My Initiative are filled with desire, energy and vision, and ready to shake-off the apathy that has captivated Kosovo’s youth and ignite the engines of political and social change.

Nisma Ime is a platform open to anyone who shares the same values and principles and is willing to help spread the word.
